Gillie Da Kid, the American rapper and podcast host, is mourning the loss of his 25-year-old son, YNG Cheese, who was tragically killed in a triple shooting incident. The devastating event has left the family and fans in shock and grief.
The shooting occurred in Philadelphia on Thursday night, July 20, on the 5800 block of Mascher Street. Police were called to the scene at 8:24pm.
Authorities confirmed that a 25-year-old man was shot once in the back and taken to hospital. He was pronounced dead at 8:39pm.
A 28-year-old man and a 31-year-old man were also shot and taken to hospital. Both are said to be in stable condition.
Police have not yet revealed the identity of the man who died. However, a source close to the family confirmed with NBC10 that the victim was YNG Cheese, a local rapper and son of Philly rap artist and podcast host Gillie Da Kid.
Gillie Da Kid, born Nasir Fard, is a popular figure in Philly’s underground hip-hop scene and was also a member of the local hip-hop group Major Figgas.
Rapper Wallo267, real name Wallace Peeples, also confirmed the news on Instagram.
Sharing several pictures of YNG Cheese, he wrote: "Lil Cuz usually when I talk to you, I got a lot to tell you. Tonight the pain in my heart & tears spoke to you. I love you beyond life Cheese. I got your father, Rest Well!"
