The opposition Peoples Democratic Party has won the Dutse/Kiyawa Federal Constituency in Jigawa State.
Announcing the result, the Returning Officer, Prof. Musa Okpanachi, declared Alhaji Dahiru Madaki Katika as winner of the election for the constituency.
He said, “Alhaji Dahiru Madaki Katika of the Peoples Democratic Party after scoring the highest votes of 47,836, having satisfied the requirements of the law is hereby declared as the winner and duly elected member representing Dutse/Kiyawa Federal Constituency.
Prof. Okpanachi maintained that Alhaji Abdullahi Kyamba Madobi of the All Progressives Congress scored 36,718 votes.
Meanwhile, The Atiku-Okowa presidential campaign has called on the Independent National Electoral Commission to upload the results of the presidential and National Assembly elections in its portal while expressing worry over Ebonyi and Imo states results.
The party said its worry was because the two South-East states are controlled by the ruling All Progressives Congress governors who might compromise the results in those states.
The presidential campaign council disclosed this at a press briefing on Monday morning in Abuja.
Speaking, the Director of Strategic and Public Communications of the campaign council, Dele Momodu, said “the longer the results are delayed, the more infractions are expreienced.
“We are particularly worried about Ebonyi and Imo states because they have APC governors. The governors are putting a lot of pressure on INEC. Once they are not able to change the original results in those two states, there is no way they can have 25% in 24 states; it is impossible.
“APC has been fatally wounded in Lagos by the Labour Party and Kano by the NNPP. They needed to win those places powerfully. We are leading in every other place in the North-East and North-West.
“In the North-Central, where they are expected to win big, it is between PDP and LP. So, it is impossible for anybody to win in Nigeria when in Lagos you don’t have 25% spread.”
