After choosing to play for France, Mbappe sends a heartfelt message to Cameroonian and Algerian supporters.

Although Kylian Mbappe was born in Paris, the Frenchman may trace his ancestry to Africa. The Paris Saint-Germain striker has professed his love for the continent where his ancestors are from.

Frenchman Kylian Mbappe has disclosed that African countries Cameroon and Algeria are part of him, as they are his true origin.

The Paris Saint-Germain striker, who is currently on duty with France at the ongoing 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, says he can never deny his origin. Mbappe was born in Paris, but his father, Wilfried hails from Cameroon, while his beloved mother is Algerian by birth.

Kylian Mbappe says he will continue to support the countries of his African origin. The player’s father once said he wanted him to play for the Indomitable Lions, but was discouraged after an official demanded money.

However, that has not affected Mbappe’s love for his African origins. He once stated that even though he is not featuring for either Cameroon or Algeria, he will continue to support them. He said: “Cameroon and Algeria are a part of me. I support them both. My nationality is French, but my origins are Algerian and Cameroonian. I cannot deny my origins and I am very happy.”

Samuel Eto’o speaks on Mbappe Meanwhile, despite being eligible to play for Cameroon as the country of his father’s origin, Kylian Mbappe is playing for France, his own country of birth.

In 2017, Mbappe was called up to the French national team. He formed part of the squad that won the 2018 FIFA World Cup in France, scoring four goals, including one in the final. Eto’o once suggested that he does not want players who are born abroad – like Mbappe – to represent the national team.
